Bishop T.D. Jakes: What Every Fatherless Child Needs To Know (VIDEO)

WATCH: Bishop T.D. Jakes Explains What Every Fatherless Child Needs To Know

On an all-new episode of "Oprah's Lifeclass," Bishop T.D. Jakes and Oprah continue the conversation on fatherless children -- the sons and daughters whose fathers weren't present in their lives.

In this preview clip of Sunday's episode, Bishop Jakes addresses the audience at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas about why fatherless children need to "understand the wounds of your father" as part of the healing process.

"The problem is generational," Bishop Jakes says in the video. "It's not situational. It didn't just start with you. There is a reason when you go to the physician today, he asks you about the health of your grandmother and your mother and your aunt. Your story doesn't begin with you. It started before you got here."

Oprah nods in agreement. "Oh, that's good," she says.

Understanding that your father could be a victim himself, Bishop Jakes says, is the first step to reconciliation. "And if you don't understand that, you don't have the connectivity to understand and work together on the issue to break that generational problem, curse, that's hanging over your life -- so that you can be free and stop it from happening to the next generation," he says.

"Oprah's Lifeclass" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on OWN.
