CNN's revived "Crossfire" managed to top MSNBC in a key ratings category and grow the network's audience from the year before.
The opening edition of the show, which featured Newt Gingrich and Stephanie Cutter as hosts, was focused entirely on the ongoing debate over Syria. The reviews were on the harsh side, but "Crossfire" still beat MSNBC in the coveted A25-54 demo, 171,000 to 116,000.
The show was also watched by almost 300,000 more viewers than the network drew in the same period in 2012. In total, 581,000 people tuned in.
