New York Primary Election Takes Place

Candidates facing off to be the next mayor of New York City are trying to overcome a major hurdle today, as voters take to the polls in the primary election.

Polls opened at 6 a.m. on Sept. 10, and will close at 9 p.m.

Three Republican candidates -- John Catsimatidis, Joseph Lhota and George McDonald -- are facing off today. Democratic primary candidates in the mayor's race include Sal Albanese, Randy Credico, Bill de Blasio, Neal Grimaldi, John Liu, Christine Quinn, Erick Salgado, Bill Thompson and Anthony Weiner.
