National Cheese Pizza Day In Chicago: Who Serves The Best Slice In The City? (POLL)

Did you know Thursday, Sept. 5 was National Cheese Pizza Day?

Indeed! Not to be confused with Pizza Pie Day (Feb. 9), National Sausage Pizza Day (Oct. 11) or National Pizza With Everything Except Anchovies Day (Nov. 12, of course!), Thursday was all about cheese, plain cheese pizza.

TripAdvisor be damned, we've got more than our fair share of "life-changing" pizza to choose from here in Chicago. So, in the spirit of the "holiday," we thought we'd open up the conversation to you, our readers, to help us separate the best from the rest in our effort to name the city's finest slice of cheesy heaven.

UPDATE: The people have spoken and the poll is over. After nearly 1,500 votes were registered in the prelims, four Chicago pizzerias separated themselves from the pack. In the finals, another almost 1,000 votes came in and the results are as follows:

1. Giordano's (46 percent)
2. Lou Malnati's (28 percent of votes)
3. Pequod's (15 percent of votes)
4. Piece (12 percent of votes)
