Revenge Of The New York City Voter


As the pundits compile their customary post-election lists of winners and losers -- the pols, party bosses and high-paid political consultants who met triumph or defeat in this week's primaries -- don't forget to include the most important victors: the voting public. Over and over, when it most counted, the city's voters rose to the occasion and proved themselves to be demanding, resourceful and independent-minded.

After months of concern -- and national ridicule -- over the appearance and apparent strength of scandal-tainted candidates including Anthony Weiner, Eliot Spitzer, Vito Lopez and Micah Kellner, primary voters entered the voting booth and defeated every one of them.
