WATCH: Meet One Of America's First Openly Gay Ambassadors And His Partner

Following his nomination as the U.S. Ambassador Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe earlier this year, Daniel Baer reportedly became the fourth openly gay person to land a State Department emissary role this year when he was sworn in on Sept. 11 in a historic moment for LGBT political visibility.

Last week, Baer released a video introducing himself and his partner, outlining his vision for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. Check out the video above to meet the couple and their greyhound.

The other three openly LGBT American ambassadors to be appointed in 2013 include John Berry as ambassador to Australia, the first openly gay ambassador to a G-20 country, James Costos as ambassador to Spain, and Rufus Gifford as ambassador to Denmark.
