Michael Babinsky Dies After Being Shot In Possible Accident At Lyons, Illinois Gun Range

A Michigan man died Tuesday after being wounded in what is being investigated as an accidental shooting at a gun range in Chicago's western suburbs.

Michael Babinsky, 49, of Pickford, Mich., was shot multiple times in the neck and head about 1:55 p.m. in the shooting range of the Midwest Guns shop in the 8500 block of Plainfield Road in Lyons, Ill., the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Babinski was taken in critical condition to the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where he was declared dead at 5:36 p.m.

Police are now investigating the fatal shooting as a possible accident and reviewing surveillance footage, according to the Chicago Tribune. Police told ABC Chicago they believe the man may have accidentally shot himself.

A medical examination has been scheduled for Thursday.
