'Feminist Makeup Tutorial' Parody Proves You Can Be A Strong Woman And Love Lipstick

This Makeup Tutorial Is About A Lot More Than Makeup

"Ever wanted to single-handedly dismantle the patriarchy? This fresh yet powerful look will give you the upper hand in defeating your male enemies, thereby allowing you to establish an Amazonian world order in which you and your sisters will rule."

As soon as we started watching this hilariously over-the-top makeup tutorial we were obsessed -- and laughing out loud. The video suggests that you set your foundation with "the powdered ashes of Susan B. Anthony," think of your eyeshadow "like the glass ceiling -- the thinner, the better" and apply a whole lot of "Lean In mascara, courtesy of Sheryl Sandberg."

Of course, it's best not to take the video so seriously -- it is a parody. As Taylor, the creator of the parody tutorial told Upworthy: "[The video is] supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek parody on some of society's crazy stereotypes of feminists ... I'm just having fun poking at some misconceptions and tropes."

If you want to take anything from [the tutorial] (which you don't have to), it's meant to play on some common misconceptions about feminism. There is a difference between feminism and misandry, and this video is a satire based on the fact that these two things get mixed up all too often.
