World Tourism Day Being Celebrated In Maldives

Happy Friday, and happy World Tourism Day!

What is the latter, you ask?

In an effort to raise awareness about tourism and its effects around the world, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNTWO) announced, back in 1980, September 27 as World Tourism day. Since then, themes have varied from year to year, ranging from education and diversity to global climate change.

This year's theme is "Tourism and Water: Protecting our Common Future" held in Maldives, an island nation in the Indian Ocean known for its crystal blue ocean views and white sand beaches. The location couldn't be more fitting with the day's theme:
