Brinks Ad Reminds Us That Gender Roles Are Alive And Well

This 2013 Ad May As Well Be From 1950

Ladies take care of laundry and groceries, while men travel the world, bringing home the bacon. At least that's the message of a Brinks security ad recently spotted by two readers of the blog Sociological Images.

The ad depicts illustrated figures using Brinks' "push pull rotate door locks" to open doors despite their hands being "full." The women's hands are full of food and laundry baskets, while the dude is having trouble opening the door because of his rolling suitcase and briefcase. Ugh... really, Brinks?
