Elliot Darrow Performs 'God Is Gay' At CUPSI 2013 Finals

WATCH: AMAZING Slam Poet Declares 'God Is Gay'

"What if I told you God is gay?"

In this incredible spoken word performance at the 2013 College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational at Barnard College in New York, Elliot Darrow slays the competition with a nuanced critique of the ideology of anti-gay conservative Christians.

Time magazine notes that Darrow identifies as both a straight man and an "out Christian," and his work primarily focuses on social issues. "God Is Gay" is his first slam poetry performance to directly address his faith.:

In one moving snippet from the performance, Darrow decrees:

Pray for us sinners / For we have become blinded by bigotry / And forgotten that God gave us the rainbow / As a promise that we will never be flooded again / Either with rain or ignorance / And now all the homosexual Homo sapiens / Stand more united under God’s rainbow / Than all of his denominations do around the cross

Check out the amazing performance in the video above.

Can't get enough queer spoken word? Be sure to revisit this incredible performance of "Dear Straight People" by award-winning slam poet Denice Frohman.
