Human Skull Found At Cook County Morgue -- But Body Is MIA

The Cook County morgue in Chicago made the bizarre discovery of a human head inside a cooler earlier this week.

Even more troubling: The body was nowhere to be found.

The Sun-Times reports an autopsy technician made the strange find at the Medical Examiner's office on Wednesday.

The ME's office released few details Friday, though DNAinfo Chicago reports authorities don't know which body the skull may have come from or who was investigating it.

In 2012, the morgue was hit with a lawsuit after a man's body was misplaced, causing his family to conduct a months-long search.

The former Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Nancy Jones, stepped down that year amid a scandal stemming from reports of mismanagement, body-stacking and other misconduct.
