This Sunday, Oprah will host a conversation with three openly gay stars, comedienne Wanda Sykes, "Modern Family" actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson and "Scandal" star Dan Bucatinsky, on "Oprah's Next Chapter" to discuss their personal coming out stories and what it means to be gay in Hollywood.
In the above clip from the episode, the actors talk about how far the gay rights movement has come -- and how far we still have left to go.
"I do feel like this is the defining civil rights movement of our time," Ferguson says. "In every civil rights movement, it takes a long time. That's just the way it is; history shows that. Obviously, I would like for this to move faster than it is and I would like for it to move without casualty."
"It's generational," Bucatinsky adds."It's going to unfortunately move slowly because we have to move an entire generation to not have conditional love for their kids -- it has to be unconditional love for their kids. And we're still not at the next generation."
"Oprah's Next Chapter" air Sunday, Oct. 27 at 9 p.m. ET as part of a special night of programming on OWN focusing on being gay in America. The episode will be followed by the world television premiere of the groundbreaking documentary, "Bridegroom."
