Bookworms Show: Beautiful Glass Art Tributes To Beloved Children's Books

Amy Pender/Flame Run

Today is Family Literacy Day and what better way to kick it off than with beautiful tributes to classic children's books?

Flame Run, a gallery in Louisville, Kentucky, is showcasing a glass exhibit called the "Bookworm" show, which celebrates reading for all ages. The art showcased is inspired by the artists’ favorite pieces of childhood literature. The show is cosponsored by the National Center for Families Learning.

“The goal is to get kids to read to parents, and parents to read to kids and everyone to read together,” said gallery director Tiffany Ackerman in a press release for the event.

Tonight, Flame Run is celebrating National Family Literacy Day with a kid-focused reception from 6 to 9 p.m. where kids can make ornaments and bookmarks, attend story time, and enjoy refreshments. They will be donating $4 of every glass ornament blown to the National Center for Families Learning.
