Scaffolding Collapses Near Times Square Injuring Three, Sources Say (Update)

At least three people were injured Friday morning near Times Square when scaffolding on 40th Street between Broadway and 7th Avenue collapsed.

Strong winds reported at 43 mph and heavy rain are likely responsible for the collapse. Officials told ABC, that an object may have blown off a nearby building onto the scaffolding.

Victims were being treated on the scene, but the extent of their injuries was not immediately known.

Update: The incident occurred outside of a new sushi restaurant at 561 Seventh Avenue, when a construction wall, not scaffolding as previously reported, fell and hit three people. According to reports, the victims were conscious and alert. A firefighter also sustained minor injuries.
