A powerful new video from All Out explores what it could mean to be an openly gay athlete competing at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi under Russia's anti-LGBT legislation.
Released in conjunction with the #LoveAlwaysWins initiative, this video is just one aspect of a larger campaign which aims to repeal Russia's anti-gay laws, even though the legislation's impact on 2014 Winter Olympics athletes and attendees remains unclear.
"Russia has made it a crime for gay people to show their love in public," All Out's Creative Lead Mike Buonaiuto, who directed the clip, told The Huffington Post. "This film was created to communicate this global issue in an emotional way so people can share the message with their family, friends and loved ones on Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr, and get the IOC to speak out."
In August, All Out delivered a petition containing more than 300,000 signatures to the International Olympic Committee's headquarters, pressuring committee members to speak out against Russia's anti-gay laws before the 2014 Winter Olympics.
