Allapattah Double Shooting Kills Teen; Dog Wounded Attacking Shooter

MIAMI, Fl-- A teen girl was killed, a man shot in the face, and a dog was injured trying to attack a gunman early Tuesday morning in Allapattah, according to authorities.

The two were reportedly inside a van when at least one gunman approached, reports the Miami Herald. The man had just gotten out of the vehicle when the shooting occurred.

"We were in the van, my cousin's car, listening to music and then all of a sudden, two guys came from the back and they started shooting," an unidentified man told WSVN.

The best friend of the female victim witnessed the brutal scene, telling Local 10, "I'm over here thinking she was going to die right away, but she didn't die right away."

The female victim, thought to be about 16 years old, died just before reaching Jackson Memorial Hospital and the man, later identified as 27-year-old Pedro Nunez, was released after receiving staples for the gunshot wound in his face.

A Labrador Retriever named "Coco" was also seriously wounded.

"My son was walking down the street with the dog and he was going to check on his friend and a young man came out with a gun and he was trying to shoot them and the dog attacked them, because it thought that they was attacking my son," a woman told WSVN.

Coco, who suffered two gunshot wounds and broken legs, is expected to be okay, according to NBC 6.

This is a developing story.
