Dwight Howard Missed A Dunk, Got Booed In L.A. Return

For Clippers fans, the enemy of their enemy is not necessarily their friend.

In an act of Staples Center solidarity, Clippers fans booed Dwight Howard on Monday night when he played his first game in Los Angeles since spurning the Lakers to sign with the Rockets during the offseason.

Presumably, Kobe Bryant approved.

After being booed during pre-game introductions and whenever he touched the ball in the early going, Howard did manage bring a cheer from the crowd just a few minutes into the first quarter. Howard got the ball, facing up Clippers center DeAndre Jordan. The seven-time All-Star who left $30 million on the table in L.A. to sign a 5-year $88 million dollar pact with Houston as a free agent drove toward the baseline and then rose up toward the rim. At this point, to delight of the unfriendly crowd, he missed a dunk attempt.

Plagued by foul trouble, Howard played less than 26 minutes as the Rockets were overrun by the Clippers in a 137-118 loss. Howard and the Rockets will return to Stapes Center on Feb. 19 to face the arena's other tenants.
