This week, Hawaii became the 15th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Coincidentally, but not insignificantly, the struggling University of Hawaii football team -- which is a winless 0-9 -- will be donning rainbows on their helmets, jerseys, pants, and even gloves this Saturday night vs. San Diego State.
The game, which will be televised nationally on CBS Sports Network, has been dubbed "Retro Night," with Hawaii's uniforms inspired by 1950s and 1960s throwbacks.
As USA Today noted, "Nothing brightens a dismal season quite like a vintage rainbow from 1950."
And nothing celebrates the historic passage of marriage equality in the Aloha State quite like the Rainbow Warriors showing their rainbow pride -- even if they didn't entirely mean to.
