Young 'The Sound Of Music Live!' Stars Talk Instagramming With Carrie Underwood (VIDEO)

These High Schoolers Landed The Roles Of A Lifetime (VIDEO)

For most teens, a typical after-school afternoon might include sports practice or driving to the mall with friends. But for Sophia Caruso, Michael Nigro and Peyton Ella? They're busy hanging out with Broadway vets like Audra McDonald and snapping photos with Carrie Underwood.

The young actors, who recently starred in NBC's "The Sound Of Music Live!" which premiered last Thursday, sat down with Inside Edition where they talked about their experience on set with the star-studded cast.

"Carrie [Underwood] is so great to work with," said Nigro, the high school freshman who played Friedrich. "She was really patient and understanding, and a really, really nice, good-hearted person. I would love to work with her again on anything 'cause she's just so amazing." Underwood starred in the production as Maria von Trapp.

The three-hour telecast ended up pulling in almost a whopping 20 million viewers, which surprised the younger cast.

"I knew that at least millions were going to watch, but I guess it's the best time to find out afterwards that it was close to 20 million," said Nigro. "That's unbelievable."

Of course, playing a Von Trapp child wouldn't be complete without an Instagrammed selfie with the leading lady herself.

"I told her [Underwood] to tag me, and she did!" said a smiling Peyton Ella, who starred as Gretl, holding up an iPhone.

#Nice.
