WATCH: Adorable 6-Year-Old Is Here To Save NASA

Don't worry, Houston. Six-year-old Connor Johnson has this one covered.

Alarmed by recent reports of NASA budget cuts, the Colorado boy -- who has big dreams of becoming an astronaut -- told the state's 9News that he's taking matters into his own hands. And he's putting his money where his mouth is -- by offering the space agency the full contents of his piggy bank -- all $10.41 of it.

"My whole idea was writing off to the president and then I decided to give my whole piggy bank to NASA," Johnson told 9News.

In a bid to boost the impact of his personal savings, Johnson started an online petition to the Obama administration, laying bare the need for increased funding.

In his petition, Johnson asks the government to up NASA's funding "so that children can dream of exploring the universe. Science funding is the future of our country."

NASA's budget has been in the crosshairs a lot lately. In June, a Congressional bill sought to cut $1 billion from the agency's budget. Earlier this month, planned "restructuring" of NASA's Planetary Science Division raised red flags in the science community over fears that research could be dialed back in 2014.

In addition to young Johnson, the chatter has riled up Bill Nye. The "Science Guy" recently published an open letter to President Obama regarding potential NASA cutbacks.
