Porn In Redbox DVD Disappoints 'Smurfs 2' Fan

Customer Renting 'Smurfs 2' Gets Porn Surprise

He wanted Smurfs, not blue balls.

A California man that rented a DVD of "Smurfs 2" from Redbox was surprised to find someone had replaced the animated children's movie with hardcore pornography.

"I saw girls in bikinis at first, and I was like, what am I watching?" Rocklin resident James Terry told KCRA. "And then it became more and more disturbing, with hardcore porn."

The adult film was allegedly found on a DVD that Terry rented from a Redbox machine at a Walmart last Tuesday.

Terry, who said he is a fan of animated movies, called Redbox to complain. To compensate him for the filth he uncovered, the company gave him a $2 credit and 10 free movie rentals.

Another DVD that he selected from the same rental machine contained the appropriate film.

"I said, 'What are you guys doing to protect children?' He said, 'We're working on a program next year that won't allow people to make photocopies of the bar codes anymore,'" Terry told KCRA.

Redbox released a statement about the incident last Friday:

Based on Redbox’s preliminary investigation, it appears the disc rented was a fraudulent disc altered by another individual. This is an unfortunate incident and we are preparing a case to provide to local law enforcement and will work with them to aggressively pursue prosecution.

These days, it seems porn turns up everywhere.

In October, a teaching assistant at the University of Iowa mistakenly sent home-made pornography to an email distribution list as an attachment. Students on the list were expecting answers to a problem set.

In February, a guest-lecturer at a university in the Netherlands got in trouble after a webcam set up to broadcast classes caught him watching porn on his laptop between classes. The professor failed to realize that the laptop was still hooked up to a projection screen.
