'Duck Dynasty' Star Phil Robertson's Gay Remarks Defended By Bryan Fischer

You didn't expect the controversy over "Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson's anti-gay remarks to pass without the American Family Association's Bryan Fischer chiming in, did you?

Fear not, as Fischer -- whose anti-gay statements have become a near-weekly staple of his "Focal Point" radio show -- has taken to the airwaves in defense of Robertson, who was suspended from "Duck Dynasty" indefinitely by A&E in the wake of his headline-making remarks.

"Be a Phil in your own world. Take heart from his example, be inspired by his example," Fischer declared, Right Wing Watch first reported. "What we need is about 150 million Phil Robertsons out there in every circumstance, every situation, every conversation."

Fischer also tweeted his support:

Fischer, of course, is hardly the first conservative voice to defend Robertson. Sarah Palin tweeted her own support.

"Free speech is an endangered species," the former U.S. vice presidential nominee wrote.
