Gov. Pat Quinn carried on his pre-holiday tradition of announcing action on clemency petitions, acting Tuesday to grant pardons to 38 people while rejecting 129 requests.

Among those pardoned by Quinn was John Esparza, who had a burglary conviction in 1963. Esparza first sought a pardon in 2009.
