New York's billionaire mayor may be gone, but make no mistake: The rich still dominate the Big Apple.

The median income of the richest 1 percent of New Yorkers shot up to more than $716,000 per year in 2010 from $452,000 in 1990, according to a new study released by the City University of New York. The richest 20 percent made more than half of all the money earned by New Yorkers in 2010, according to CUNY's analysis of data from the U.S. Census Bureau.
