When Divorce Magnifies Adoption's Losses

Last summer, en route to pick up my youngest daughter from a weeklong sleepaway camp in Connecticut designed specifically for adopted children, I was half-certain I would find her wailing about having been miserable, friendless and infected with Lyme’s disease. Would she run into my arms and dissolve into tears? This was her first time alone and away from home. That she might have enjoyed herself, made friends and been tick-free seemed like too much to wish for.
