'Louie' Season 4 Premiere Date: FX Announces Louis C.K.'s Comedy Will Be Back In May 2014

FX Announces 'Louie' Season 4 Premiere Date

Season 4 of "Louie" will be back on FX in May 2014. The network's president John Landgraf released the news at the Televisions Critics Association's winter press tour on Tuesday (Jan. 14).

Originally, the show's fourth season was supposed to debut in Spring 2013, but the network pushed the date back a year after show creator Louis. C.K. requested an extended hiatus in 2012. At the time, Landgraf said in a conference call, "Louie has continued to raise the bar and recharge his batteries. I don't think there's anyone else in business who's produced, starred, directed and edited all but seven episodes … I'm not surprised he needs a bit of a break."

Louis C.K. told reporters, "I want a little breathing room."

During the announcement, Landgraf spoke about handing show reigns over to C.K. and "American Horror Story" showrunner Ryan Murphy. "It's a little dangerous and that's kind of exciting."
