It was an odd night for Sandra Bullock at the Critics' Choice Awards. She won Best Actress in an Action Movie for her work in "Gravity," besting Jennifer Lawrence (for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire"), Evangeline Lilly (for "The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug") and Gwyneth Paltrow (for "Iron Man 3"). Bullock embraced the weirdness of the category during her acceptance speech.
"I would first like to thank Jackie Chan, Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme for teaching me everything I know," Bullock quipped. As she tried to continue, the announcer cut in briefly. The Critics' Choice censor was more accurate than the Golden Globes' was in silencing her next words, but Bullock clearly said, "What the f--k?" when she was interrupted.
"I’m an action hero!" she then shouted. "You do not do that to a ... I’d like to thank Warner Brothers for funding a film that they had no idea what it was. It was an action film.”
Bullock was joined by Bradley Cooper in swearing at the awards show. Cooper did so when describing the cast of "American Hustle" after that film won Best Ensemble.
In keeping with the spirit of the odd night for "Gravity," the film wasn't up for Best Action Movie, despite Bullock's win. Instead, it won for Best Sci-Fi/Horror Movie. "Gravity" was the most-honored film at the 19th Annual Critics' Choice Awards, taking home seven awards total.
