This Absurd Full Court Buzzer-Beater Might Give You Whiplash

Given the abrupt change in momentum during Friday's basketball matchup between the El Cerrito Gauchos and the Saint Joseph Notre Dame Pilots, we're impressed no one in the crowd got whiplash.

Abrupt, as in: from missing a free throw to sinking a shot 80 feet from the basket, all in less than five seconds.

Even better, the remarkable 80-foot shot tied the game at the end of regulation -- sending the game into overtime and the cheering student section onto the gym floor in celebration.

Coaches from both teams were uncertain whether or not the basket should count, but referees ultimately decided it went in with enough time left on the clock.

"Honestly, the only one who thought it should count were the referees," El Cerrito coach Michael Booker told MaxPreps. "You can't grab a rebound, land on your feet, turn and then shoot all in 0.6 seconds left. The clock just got started later than it should ... Make no mistake, it was an amazing shot by an amazing player in an amazing game. ... I'm just glad we finally pulled it out."

El Cerrito went on to win the game 71-64.
