UPDATE: Jan. 30 -- Celebrity gossip website TMZ reported on Tuesday that singer and reality-show star Toni Braxton has purchased a $3 million house in a gated community in Calabasas, Calif.

But a source with knowledge of the transaction has confirmed to The Huffington Post that the house identified in TMZ's report has not been sold, but has merely been taken off the market.

Multiple Listing Service records reviewed by The Huffington Post also indicate the house was taken off the market. This can occur when a property has entered escrow and a sale is imminent, or when a seller decides not to sell. Property records do not reflect a change in ownership at this time. It has been leased for $11,500 a month since September.

The source would not comment on reports of Braxton's involvement.

Previously:

Toni Braxton has reportedly purchased a multi-million dollar house near Justin Bieber, just months after closing her bankruptcy case.

Braxton allegedly bought a $3 million mansion in Calabasas, Calif., in the exclusive gated community where Bieber lives, The Oaks, according to TMZ. The 5,323-square-foot house boasts four bedrooms, five bathrooms and a pool.

The move comes only six months after the singer reached a settlement in her bankruptcy case. She filed for Chapter 7 in 2010, claiming she had debt between $10 million and $50 million stemming from taxes and property. Prior to that, she filed for bankruptcy in 1998.

During a 2012 interview with ABC News, the 46-year-old blamed her money woes on business issues and a home-decor addiction.

"I love dishes and house things, so I kind of lost it a little bit on the houseware," she said, adding that she spent her money on plates, Faberge eggs and 1,000 thread-count sheets. "That's what I indulged in. I loved that part of it. I'm a little odd."

In July, Braxton settled her bankruptcy case by paying $150,000 to the trustee, TMZ reported.

Her reality show, "Braxton Family Values," is currently in its third season on WEtv.

Clarification: The alleged house in question is near Bieber's home, but is not directly next to it.
