Olympic Gold Medalist Scott Hamilton had a very interesting story to share with us about how he first got into figure skating.
Scott had a childhood illness for four years, which required his parents to bring him in and out of various hospitals to receive treatments. As a way of thanking his parents, Scott would give them time off by taking himself to the local ice-skating rink on Saturday mornings. By the age of nine, Scott realized he was as good as some of the best athletes in his school, and his journey took off from there.
