Think this will catch Miley's attention?
One Arizona teen is going out of his way to invite Miley Cyrus to prom. Matt Peterson, of Phoenix, recently pulled together a touching video to ask the singer to an upcoming high school dance.
While other teens have tried as much with other celebs -- Ellen DeGeneres and Kate Upton, to name a few -- the 17-year-old may have a better shot since he's met Cyrus in person before.
In the video promposal, posted to YouTube, Peterson shows footage of their first meeting at a radio station in 2009 and points out how she spotted him in a crowd at a concert six months later.
After reminiscing on the past, the Arcadia High School junior strips down to nothing but a foam finger and a bouquet of roses -- something he was comfortable with as swimmer. Then, he asks: "Miley Cyrus, will you go to prom with me?"
Peterson further writes on YouTube:
Miley, I have been a fan of yours from the beginning. You've changed my life, and I want to repay you by giving you the best night of your life. In order to do that, allow me to take you to my Prom on May 3, 2014. I promise you, we will have a great time.. and after our first encounter, I won't cry on your dress. I hope you will tell me yes when I'm sitting with roses in the 6th row at your BANGERZ tour in Phoenix on Febuary 27th! (all sic)
The 17-year-old explained that making the video was not only about going to prom with Miley but also about showing that it's OK to put yourself out there.
"I just feel like for so long in my life I cared so much what people thought about me. Putting this out there, I feel like now I've grown up from that," Peterson told The Huffington Post. But, he's still hoping that she'll say yes.
So, Miley, will you go to prom?
