You Won't Believe This Race Car Driver Survived This Explosion (VIDEO)

WATCH: The Terrifying Explosion One Race Car Driver Survived

It was a weekend driver Ron Capps won't soon forget.

When he joined other professional drag racers at California's Autoclub Raceway for the Circle K Winternationals last week, he probably had no idea luck was on his side.

Capps -- who was competing in a qualifying run in his NAPA-sponsored Dodge funny car, according to Autoweek -- was able to walk away without injury after a violent engine explosion tore away his vehicle's bodywork Friday.

"You go from a car that's all dark [inside] and then you're [driving] a convertible," Capps told the Los Angeles Times.

The National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) posted footage of the terrifying explosion to YouTube on Feb. 8. As the clip shows, the Valvoline-sponsored funny car next to Capps' vehicle also appears to suffer engine failure, albeit with less explosive results.

We're just glad everyone is OK.
