These Are Your Favorite Scenes From Classic Literature, Hilariously Recreated In Lego

Classic Literature Recreated With Lego Will Bring You Pure, Plasticky Joy

Ah, classic literature. Nothing compares to the timeless stories that, through the power of the written word, connect us all regardless of age, background or personal belief. What artistic mode could possibly pay homage to the innumerable gifts literature has bestowed upon us all? Lego.

Allow us to introduce Lego Literature, an inspired initiative by the good people at Waterstones Bookstore that transforms your favorite scenes in literature into a sea of plastic, yellow goodness. "Romeo and Juliet," "Pride and Prejudice" and the timeless classic "Game of Thrones" are some of the works lucky enough to receive the Lego treatment.

Waterstones began the initiative to coincide with the release of "The Lego Movie" -- though we suspect the film's release was just an excuse to whip out the quintessential toys. "We’ll take any opportunity to play with Lego –- especially when we can find a way to involve books and therefore make it a legitimate part of our working day," Waterstones' Jon Howells explained in an email to The Huffington Post.

If the Lego wonderland below has you feeling inspired, we bear good news. Howells invites anyone interested to create a scene from their favorite book and upload it to the web with @Waterstones and #LEGOLit. If Waterstones deems it worthy, he'll share it on the bookstore's blog. Go forth readers and Lego enthusiasts!
