Single Dad Deion Sanders Stars In New Docu-Series

Former pro athlete Deion "Prime Time" Sanders juggles a busy life as a single dad. Besides raising his own five kids (with the help of his mom and girlfriend), he's helping to raise five more children that he's opened his home to, including a student in need he's taken in. Outside the home, he's the co-founder and football coach of Prime Prep Academy, a charter school in Dallas that aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of children in underserved areas.

His real-life story is being captured on OWN's new docu-series "Deion's Family Playbook," and in the above clip we see what it's like to sit around the Sanders' family breakfast table.

It’s the first day of the school year at Prime Prep, and Deion's 11-year-old son, Shedeur, has first-day jitters. "I'm nervous to start Prime Prep because I know what to look out for, but I don't know if I'll have some good friends or friends that just like me because of my dad," Shedeur says.

Along with getting his kids up and ready for school, Deion needs to prepare for the new football season. He meets with the other coaches to tell them that this year, he's raising the bar and demanding academic excellence from all players.

"I'm in the hood trying to do some good," Deion says. "A lot of people don't like that. And that's where we've got to be on our game, baby. We've got to be sure these teachers are teaching, and the kids are acting like young men and women that's trying to get to college."

"Deion's Family Playbook" premieres Saturday, March 1 at 10 p.m. ET on OWN.
