'Survivor: Cagayan' Premiere: Brains Tribe Off To The Worst Start Ever

'Survivor' Brains Tribe Off To The Worst Start Ever

It was the premiere of another experimental season with "Survivor: Cagayan." Like "Cook Islands" divided the contestants by race, "Cagayan" broke them up as well based on specific traits. This season will be beauty vs. brawn vs. brains. By the end of the two-hour premiere, it was clear which of these three groups was the weakest.

The game properly utilizes all three aspects of an individual, and maybe that was the problem. Both beauty and brawn proved capable of handling puzzles, physical challenges, and the social game. Somehow, the brain tribe proved incapable of handling much of anything. Shockingly, they lost their second challenge on a puzzle.

Even worse than their challenge performances was their strategic game play. After blowing the puzzle challenge, Garrett decided to simply tell J'Tia that she was going to be voted out. She responded by going crazy, as she put it, and dumping her tribe's rice in the fire. And yet, she still wasn't voted out!

Instead, it was Garrett who became the second "alpha male" leader of the tribe to get the boot in a row after targeting J'Tia. Perhaps with all those brains come egos, too. Whatever the problem, the tribe needs to get it together, or there won't be a "brain" left in the game before too much longer.

"Survivor: Cagayan" continues on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EST on CBS.
