NBC News' Miguel Almaguer Had To Be Rescued From California Mudslide

Reporter Rescued From Mudslides

NBC News reporter Miguel Almaguer had to be rescued from the powerful mudslides in Southern California on Friday.

Almaguer was in Azusa, Calif., on Friday covering the area's heavy rain and mudslides, and reported live for "NBC Nightly News" standing in thigh-high mud. The powerful visual, however, came at a cost.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Almaguer had to be rescued from the mud Friday night. Two firefighters were in the area, according to the New York Daily News, and helped free the reporter from the mud. One of the rescuers used a shovel to dig him out.

BuzzFeed noted that local police later ordered all residents and media to evacuate the street where Almaguer was reporting.
