WATCH: Andrew Wiggins Shows Once Again Why NBA Tanking Is A Thing

It took Andrew Wiggins about six seconds to show off the athleticism that has had him tipped as a future NBA star since high school. Over forty minutes, the standout Kansas freshman showed the developing all-around game that might make him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.

With his No. 8 Jayhawks visiting West Virginia on Saturday, Wiggins posted a career-high 41 points. In an especially jaw-dropping display of his athleticism in the first half, the 6' 8" phenom rejected Juwan Staten at one end of the floor and then finished a transition fast break at the other with a one-handed slam dunk. That right-handed flush cut the Mountaineers' lead to 34-28 with 6:30 remaining before the intermission.

West Virginia would never relinquish the lead en route to a 92-86 win but not for lack of effort -- and scoring -- by Wiggins. The first-year college player out of Canada, by way of Huntington Prep in West Virginia, nearly staved off the upset on his own. During one torrid stretch of the second half, Wiggins scored 14 straight points for Kansas. He tallied his career-high point total on 12-18 shooting including 2-5 shooting from three-point range. He drained 15 of 19 attempts from the line while racking up eight rebounds, two assists, five steals, four blocks.

Wiggins’ 41 points were the most in a game by a Kansas player since Terry Brown posted 42 in 1991, reported the Topeka Capital-Journal.
