12-Year-Old Mini Meteorologist Uses Radars To Predict The Weather

This clip is part of HuffPost Live's "Tell Me Why" series, featuring young enthusiasts discussing the subjects they're passionate about -- from horror movies to string theory -- with experts.

Twelve-year-old Ryan Martz first became interested in the weather during a summer camping trip with his family. Their camp experienced a tornado warning and Ryan and his family were forced to evacuate the premises. When they returned, trees were down and the campsite was in disarray.

Now, Ryan analyzes radars and weather apps to make predictions. He often knows what the weather will bring before it even happens. "Usually better than family or friends," he explained on HuffPost live.

Meteorologist Kait Parker joined him on the segment and explained that she, too, was interested in tornadoes. And like Ryan, is obsessed with the weather at a very young age.
