Zoe Saldana is basking in newlywed bliss.
Not only is she taking time off from the gym (yes, believe it or not), Saldana is finally opening up about her secret wedding to Marco Perego last year.
“I’m not a private person, but I am discreet, so [getting married in secret] felt right,” the 35-year-old actress tells the new issue of Net-A-Porter's The Edit, which she covers.
Saldana also admits she "let herself go" after her nuptials, opting for big meals over long workouts.
“I’ve been an active person my whole life,” she says. “The past year has been the only time in my life that I haven’t been to the gym. I’ve been lazy instead of training for something and pushing myself ... not because I am trying to be skinny. I just like to know how much endurance I have. But this past year I’ve let myself go,” she continues. “I’ve been eating a lot of Chinese, pasta, rice, beans...”
As for why she decided to finally tie the knot with Italian artist Perego, whom she quietly married in England last June, Saldana says he brings out the best in her.
“I’m fortunate to be challenged by an artist who also pushes himself," the "Guardians of the Galaxy" star gushes of her man, adding that she hopes to be behind the camera one day. "I have ADD, I’m a Gemini and I get bored quickly. So my next challenge is to direct, because I’m getting tired of just being a particle in the whole telling of the story. I want to be more. I want to be there from its conception.”
