LOGO TV Launches 'Gayest Cartoon Tournament'

Who Is The Gayest Cartoon Character Of All Time?

As sports fans prepare for to launch into full-fledged insanity for the 2014 "March Madness" NCAA Basketball Tournament, those without an investment in college basketball culture are bracing themselves for the annual onslaught of viewing parties, brackets and sports-related jargon.

In response, LOGO TV is launching a tournament of its own that asks who is the "Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time"?

Paying homage to the first depictions of not only gay characters but also characters embodying gay sensibilities, the "Gayest Cartoon Character of All Time" tournament will function in a bracket-style competition involving 32 iconic queer cartoon characters pitted against one another.

LOGO TV said in a statement to The Huffington Post that the featured characters range from "out-and-proud toons," such as “South Park’s” Big Gay Al, to those who have always left us scratching our heads, such as “Scooby Doo’s” Velma. These initial 32 characters were chosen from an intense round of polling through The Backlot and NewNowNext to determine the baseline group of contenders.

The tournament winner will be announced during an episode of "RuPaul's Drag Race" airing on April 7 with the winner delivering a special acceptance speech. Check out some of the contenders below and head here to see the bracket in full.
