The Boston Bruins paid tribute to the Boston Fire Department and two fallen firefighters before their game against Chicago at the TD Garden on Thursday night. The emotional pregame moment came just days after two firefighters died battling a massive apartment fire in downtown Boston.

Bruins players wore Boston Fire Department hats during warmups and an emblem was displayed on the ice during a moment of silence. Following the Bruins 3-0 win over the Blackhawks, the Boston Fire Department was honored as the game’s First Star.

"They put their lives at risk and obviously with what happened, our thoughts and prayers are with their families," Bruins center Patrice Bergeron said after the game, via NESN.com. "Like I said, you never want to hear that. They are the heroes and we’re just here to — it puts things in perspective, I guess, if I want to put it that way. Tonight was well-deserved first star."
