'Where's Mum?' Nonprofit Video Captures Heartbreak Felt By Children Who've Lost A Parent

A Child's Loss And Heartbreak Captured In Achingly Powerful Ad

A children's grief-support charity ran the ad above for British Mother's Day on March 30, calling it "the most moving Mother's Day film you'll ever see."

After watching the spot from Grief Encounter, you might find it hard to disagree.

In the clip, a little boy, with only his teddy bear for company, makes breakfast, bandages a boo-boo and performs other tasks a parent would normally do.

"We're here to help answer one of the hardest questions ..." the tagline begins. "Where's mum?"

Grief Encounter solicits $5 donations in the video, which captures a child's sense of loss. According to a 2010 survey published by CNN, 73 percent of adults think their lives would be "much better" if close relatives hadn't died in their youth. A majority also said they would trade a year of life for one more day with a deceased parent.
