A Disney Cruise Line employee was arrested in Florida after police said he molested a young female passenger.
Brevard County sheriff's deputies arrested crew member Ahmed Sofyan, 36, in Port Canaveral Thursday after the cruise company contacted authorities to report the suspected abuse of a 13-year-old girl aboard the Disney Dream.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, the girl accused the man of molesting her during a "turnaround" day, when passengers disembark and others board the ship. Disney Cruise Line contacted local police, the Coast Guard, and the FBI.
Sofyan, who is from Indonesia, faces two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation and one count of false imprisonment. Fox News Orlando reports that Sofyan has already been fired and will likely be deported back to Indonesia.
“We have no tolerance whatsoever for the behavior alleged in this incident,” Karl Holz, president of Disney Cruise Line, said in a release. “We are sorry that anything of this nature could have occurred on one of our ships. We place enormous value on the trust our guests have in us, and nothing is more important to us than the safety and security of each and every one of our guests.”
