7.6 Earthquake Off Solomon Islands Triggers Tsunami Warnings (Update)


The USGS reports a 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck near the Solomon Islands at a depth of 18.2 miles. According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, tsunami watches were issued for areas near the quake.


The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has canceled all tsunami warnings.

Previously, tsunami warnings were issued for:

Hawaii and the U.S. west coast were not expecting a tsunami according to the National Weather Service.

BuzzFeed tweeted a map of possible tsunami wave travel paths and times.
