Laverne Cox Delivers Keynote Speech At 'Trans 100' Gala

WATCH: Laverne Cox Will Wow You With This Speech

Transgender activist and actress Laverne Cox delivered the keynote speech at the "Trans 100" gala in Chicago, Illinois, earlier this month -- and it is absolutely stunning.

The "Trans 100" is an annual list of some of the most prominent and influential individuals who both identify as trans and are actively working towards creating a better world for the transgender community. Cox's keynote address focuses on the way that "hurt people hurt people" and how anyone can take on the role of the oppressor, no matter how complicated and nuanced their identity is.

"I think about this expression 'hurt people hurt people' and I can't help but think about the ways in which systemic oppression keep us from each other. How that oppression keeps us from loving and supporting each other."

Check out the video above to hear more about this from Cox, as well as the rest of her compelling keynote address.
