Police in Oregon are investigating the bizarre death of a Portland man who witnesses say was struck by a car while doing nude push-ups in the street.
On Monday, the victim was identified as James Hunter, 43, according to the Oregonian. Police received multiple calls early Sunday morning about a man who witnesses said had run into the street naked near North Columbia Boulevard and Portsmouth Avenue in North Portland.
Initial calls came in around 4 a.m. KGW reports:
While officers were driving to the scene, another caller reported the man was doing push-ups in the roadway. A third caller then said the man had been hit by a vehicle.
The victim died at the scene.
Toxicology results for Hunter will be available in a few weeks, according to medical examiners. The driver of the car that struck Hunter was not impaired by drugs or alcohol, police said.
No citations have been issued, but police said the case remains under investigation.
