Here's Proof That Mom Really Does Know Best

How are you celebrating Mother's Day this year?

Here at the Huffington Post, we're gathering the best advice that moms from across the world have shared with their children. Today on HuffPost Live, three mothers joined host Caroline Modarressy-Tehrani to share some words of wisdom.

Thinking back on how she was raised, HuffPost Live host and mother of two Nancy Redd said, "The best advice I think she gave me was, you know how everyone always says, 'Do as I say, not as I do?' Well, she's totally 'Do as I say and do,' so it was really hard for me to be a horrible kid because she was working so hard to set a great example. I actually kind of had to behave 80 percent of the time because she set such a good example. So I try to do that with my toddler. I try to treat him with the respect that I want him to respect others with."

Ronnie Tyler, the co-founder of BlackAndMarriedWithKids.com and mother to four children, said, "I definitely don't want my kids to think that I'm overbearing or too much in their business, but I do think that being a mother, you have to be intentional and you have to be involved. I'm learning with my 21-year-old how to balance all of that."

CTWorkingMoms.com blogger Elise Schreier, the adoptive mother of three children, says that her mom has set a strong example of the power of optimism.

"One thing I've gotten from her is to be able to watch her chose happiness despite difficult times," Schreier said. "Despite struggles in life as we all face, one thing she has always done is chosen to be happy and chosen to focus on the things that are positive."
