Teen Kills Man During Bullet Proof Vest Test: Cops

A South Carolina man was killed when a bulletproof vest test went awry, authorities said.

Blake Randall Wardell was killed at a Honea Path home on Wednesday after his friend, Taylor Ann Kelly, 18, shot him with a small-caliber gun, according to Anderson County Deputy Coroner Don McCown.

"It wasn't a fight. They were actually going to take a shot at the vest," McCown told the State. "They were going to shoot the victim with the vest on. And he was shot in the chest, just above the vest."

Kelly is charged with involuntary manslaughter and, if convicted, could face five years in prison, according to Fox Carolina.

WYFF reports that a second suspect, Timothy Fisher, was arrested on Thursday and also charged with involuntary manslaughter.

It's unclear what role authorities believe Fisher played in Wardell's death.
