Late Wednesday, Megan Ellison's Annapurna Pictures announced that Tom Hardy would star for director Kathryn Bigelow in "The True American," an adaptation of New York Times writer Anand Giridharadas' non-fiction book about a tragedy that happened in the shadow of Sept. 11, 2001. With that kind of pedigree -- Bigelow is an Oscar-winning director; Ellison produced two of this year's Best Picture nominees -- it's likely that "The True American" will be a serious awards contender whenever it comes out, and the kind of movie that starts meaningful discussions with mass audiences. For now, though, "The True American" is notable for its name, which it shares with a confusing, inscrutable drinking game made popular by "New Girl."

I am so psyched that the drinking game from The New Girl is finally going to be a feature film. http://t.co/IyHpPGpgk2

To celebrate this unintended connection, HuffPost Entertainment put together a mashup of what it would look like if Tom Hardy as Bane in "The Dark Knight Rises" played True American with the cast of "New Girl." Enjoy its loose, Candy Land-like structure above.
